Sanford Labs has launched a partnership with the Sullivan Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management through its Venture Fellows Program. This program offers interdisciplinary teams of students the opportunity to work directly with scientific founders to support deep market analysis, the development of business plans, and the assessment of commercialization pathways for novel research.

“Sanford Labs is an exciting addition to San Diego’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Sullivan Center Executive Director Tim Schwartz. “We’re excited to support their pursuit of transformative new medicines for patients while providing our students the opportunity to work directly with scientific innovators.”

Led by Jason Kreisberg, Associate Director for Scientific Strategy and Partnerships at Sanford Labs, and Group Leader Fred Tan, eight fellows with experience in the biotech and financial sectors will perform market analysis including an in-depth review of the competitive landscape, develop a target product profile, and perform primary source interviews focused on one of Sanford Labs’ prototype RNA-based drugs. They will also evaluate potential strategic partners to aid its development.

“Serving as a collaborative hub is an integral part of Sanford Labs’ mission,” said Kreisberg. Fred and I look forward to this partnership, sharing our experience with the fellows, and learning how their analysis can bolster our research program.”

The team is also supported by UC San Diego business mentor Dr. Steven Prestrelski, a Rady School of Management MBA graduate, seasoned biopharmaceutical executive, and Chief Scientific Officer of the clinical-stage biotech company MBX Biosciences.
